Advertising Representative

**Overview:** The Northern Light is seeking a student worker to fill the role of Advertising Representative. As an Advertising Representative, you will help sell advertising for The Northern Light, UAA's student-run newspaper. You will also assist with public communications of the paper. **Responsibilities:** • Sell advertising space to clients • Assist with public communications of the paper • Provide excellent customer service and processing transactions • Possess excellent communication and time management skills • File management and organization are important aspects of this job • Be comfortable with emailing and cold calling clients • Have a basic understanding of graphic design and be willing to learn more • *Qualifications:** • Experience with customer service and processing transactions • Excellent communication and time management skills • Ability to work well in a team and give/receive constructive feedback • Understanding of how to use spreadsheets • Basic knowledge of graphic design • Comfortable with emailing and cold calling clients • File management and organization skills • *Benefits:** • Part-time, 8-12 hours a week, student position paying $13.29/hour • Opportunity to learn about publishing and the news media • Access to industry professionals and professional equipment • Chance to submit material for awards • Eligible for student employment with the University of Alaska system • Position reappointment is contingent upon successful progress toward degree completion and performance evaluation
