ABOUT KEH
KEH is the world’s largest reseller of pre-owned camera gear and a trusted name for photographers, videographers, and creators. Founded in 1979, the company maintains an inventory of more than 60,000 items, serves a loyal community of professional and enthusiast photographers, and has built its reputation on an industry-standard equipment grading system, a 180-day warranty, and a customer experience consistently ranked among the best in online retail.
The re-commerce market is in the early stages of a significant growth cycle as consumers increasingly seek to buy, sell, and trade pre-owned products. KEH is investing aggressively to capture this opportunity — expanding its product categories, growing adjacent business lines, and building the technology and operational infrastructure to support the next stage of scale. KEH is majority owned by D Cubed Group, a private equity firm.
THE ROLE
KEH is looking for a strategic creative leader who understands that brands are built through consistent ideas, compelling campaigns, and a clear point of view—not one headline at a time. This contract-to-hire role sits at the intersection of brand strategy, advertising, and marketing and will define how KEH speaks to customers as the company strengthens its position as the #1 pre-owned camera reseller.
The Art Director Copy will own the messaging systems that create consistency across channels, including positioning, brand voice, messaging architecture, copy standards, creative briefs, and integrated campaign concepts spanning email, CRM, paid media, social, retail, web, and video. Working closely with the Creative Director, VP of Marketing, Senior Marketing Manager, Editorial Writer, and channel leaders, this person will translate business strategy into compelling, differentiated customer experiences.
This is a hands-on creative leadership role for someone equally comfortable building a messaging framework, developing an advertising campaign, writing and shaping brand content, mentoring writers and designers, and influencing creative direction across multiple stakeholders.
WHAT YOU WILL OWN
• Brand Voice and Messaging Systems — Define KEH's brand voice, messaging architecture, positioning, and copy standards so every customer touchpoint is consistent, differentiated, and recognizable.
• Integrated Campaign Strategy — Turn business and customer insights into creative briefs, messaging frameworks, and campaign concepts that align channel execution around a single, compelling idea.
• Advertising and Brand Storytelling — Shape memorable campaign narratives, copy, scripts, storylines, and video concepts that strengthen brand recognition and business performance.
• Creative Quality and Consistency — Establish the standards, feedback, and creative judgment that elevate copy and content across the organization.
• Messaging Performance and Evolution — Use customer insights, creative testing, analytics, and performance data to continually improve how KEH communicates and builds long-term brand equity.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
• Translate business strategy into clear positioning, messaging hierarchies, and compelling customer experiences.
• Define and maintain KEH's brand voice, messaging architecture, and copy standards across customer touchpoints.
• Develop campaign strategy, creative briefs, messaging frameworks, and integrated campaign concepts with cross-functional partners.
• Guide messaging across Email, CRM, Social Media, Paid Media, CX, Ecommerce, Retail, Web, and Video.
• Write and shape high-performing digital marketing, advertising, website, and brand copy.
• Develop campaign narratives and video concepts through scripts, storylines, concepts, and creative direction.
• Mentor copywriters, designers, and content creators by setting standards, providing thoughtful feedback, and raising the quality of creative work.
• Partner with the Editorial Writer so campaign and editorial content complement one another without overlapping ownership.
• Refine messaging using customer insights, creative testing, analytics, and performance data.
• Influence creative direction across marketing, merchandising, and channel teams while building alignment among multiple stakeholders.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Preferred
• Agency experience in a senior brand copywriting, brand messaging, creative strategy, advertising copy, or art director role.
• Experience leading or contributing to a brand development or redesign initiative.
• Background working with ecommerce, retail, lifestyle, or direct-to-consumer brands.
• Experience writing scripts, concepts, or storyboards for commercial or branded video.
• Familiarity with photography, camera equipment, or creator-focused brands, plus an understanding of SEO and AI search optimization within a broader brand strategy.
WHO YOU ARE
You are a strategic thinker with a strong point of view and the judgment to connect customer insight, positioning, and creative execution. You are equally comfortable setting direction and doing the work, and you raise the quality of those around you through clear standards, thoughtful feedback, and collaborative influence.
