JOB TITLE: Assistant Media Strategist

DEPARTMENT: Media

REPORTS TO: Media Strategy Supervisor or Associate Media Strategy Director

LOCATION: Remote or Hybrid

STATUS: Non-Exempt

About the Role

The Assistant Media Strategist is the entry point into R&R Partners' media department. This is a learning role. You will be embedded in client teams, working alongside experienced strategists and supervisors who will teach you how to think about media, not just how to operate it.

The fundamentals matter here. You will learn how media plans are built, how budgets are managed, how campaigns are trafficked and tracked, and how to work with media partners. But from day one, we will also expect you to start developing the habits that separate a strategist from an executor. That means asking why before asking how. It means paying attention to the people behind the data points. It means being curious about culture, about what audiences actually care about, and about how brands earn attention rather than just buying it.

R&R's media department is building something different. We lead with cultural intelligence, creative media thinking, and modern technology. You will be trained in that approach from the start. The tools, frameworks, and ways of working you learn here will look different from what you would find at a traditional media agency.

What You'll Do

Learn the Craft

•          Assist in the development of media plans across client accounts, working under the guidance of supervisors and directors who will teach you the process end to end.

•          Learn how media works across its full spectrum. Understand what brand-building media does and how it differs from performance-driven media. Learn where the trade-offs are and how both work together when planned well.

•          Build a working knowledge of media channels, platforms, and partners. Traditional, digital, social, programmatic, out-of-home. You will develop foundational fluency across all of them.

•          Learn to read and interpret media research, competitive analysis, and campaign performance data. The goal is to understand what the data means, not just where to find it.

•          Develop the habit of starting with the audience. Before you build a plan, you should be able to articulate who you are trying to reach, what matters to them, and why the media choices you are recommending make sense for those people specifically.

Support Execution

•          Prepare and maintain media flowcharts, budget documents, and plan materials. Accuracy and attention to detail are non-negotiable at this level.

•          Generate insertion orders for approved media plans and track authorizations, contracts, and signed documentation.

•          Assist with invoice reconciliation and budget stewardship. Learn how money moves through a media plan from approval to final billing.

•          Help monitor live campaigns, flagging performance trends and delivery issues to senior team members.

•          Support the development of creative specifications and asset grids for account and creative teams.

•          Prepare materials for client meetings, including status agendas, recaps, and follow-up correspondence.

Develop Strategic Thinking

•          Pay attention to culture. Read widely. Notice what people are paying attention to and why. This is not a nice-to-have. It is a core part of how this department thinks about media and you are expected to start building that muscle early.

•          Engage with the department's proprietary planning tools. Use them as part of your workflow and bring observations about what the tools surface to your supervisors. We want you to think critically about what the tools produce, not just accept the output.

•          Ask questions. Challenge assumptions when something does not make sense to you. The best junior strategists are the ones who make senior people sharpen their thinking.

•          Contribute to team knowledge-sharing, training programs, and department development. Learning goes both directions.

What We're Looking For

This is an entry-level role. We do not expect you to know everything. We expect you to be hungry to learn, precise in your work, and genuinely curious about people and culture.

•          Bachelor's degree in advertising, marketing, communications, or a related field. Or equivalent experience that demonstrates the same foundation.

•          Internship or early career experience in media, marketing, or a related field is preferred but not required.

•          Strong attention to detail. The operational side of this role requires accuracy. Budgets, dates, specifications, documentation. Getting these right matters.

•          Curiosity about how and why people make decisions, what they pay attention to, and what role media plays in shaping those behaviors.

•          Strong written and verbal communication skills. You will be writing emails, preparing documents, and eventually presenting to clients. Clear thinking shows up in clear communication.

•          Willingness to learn new tools and ways of working, including AI-assisted planning. This department is evolving and we want people who are excited by that, not intimidated by it.

•          A genuine interest in media. Not just as a job, but as a discipline you want to get good at. The people who do well here are the ones who find this work genuinely interesting.

What We Offer

•          Comprehensive benefits package designed to support your well-being.

•          Generous time-off policy.

•          Mobile stipend.

•          401k with company match.

•          Community involvement with time and financial matching.

•          Annual performance reviews with clear development planning.

•          Learning and development investment.
