Summary of Job Duties: The School of Journalism and Strategic Media in the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Arkansas invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Social/Digital Media Analytics in Advertising and Public Relations to start in August 2024. The successful candidate will maintain a program of national refereed scholarship, be or demonstrate the potential to be an effective teacher, have professional experience with social/digital media analytics in advertising, public relations, or a relevant field, exhibit a commitment to an inclusive scholarly environment and engage in national, university and School service. • Demonstrated ability to teach one or more required ADPR major courses (Advertising Principles, Public Relations Principles, Public Relations Writing, Creative Strategy and Execution, Media Planning and Strategy, and Account Planning) as well as digital and social media advertising and public relations courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels as evidenced in the teaching philosophy and other required documents • Two or more years of professional, research or relevant experience in digital and social media advertising and public relations including persuasive content strategy, development and publication; digital and social analytics; and other relevant experience in advertising or public relations • The ability to be an active, involved, and collegial member of a collaborative faculty team, The School of Journalism and Strategic Media, the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences, the University of Arkansas, and relevant national service organizations Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs): • Mastery of the evolving trends in the field of social/digital media analytics, including social-media marketing strategies, influencer marketing, online advertising, social media/influencer metrics, E-Commerce, Artificial Intelligence, and Writing for various social-media platforms • Skilled with the use of social/media management tools • Ability to plan new courses in social/digital media analytics and conduct scholarly research in this field Additional Information: Applicants must submit • A letter of interest (demonstrating how your strengths match the duties and qualifications listed above), • a complete curriculum vitae, • an example of scholarship such as a published or presented article or a draft of an article, • a statement of teaching philosophy, which may include evidence of teaching effectiveness (not to exceed three pages), and • a list of three professional references (name, title, email address, and phone number) willing to provide letters of recommendation if requested during the application process.
