Who we’re looking for We're looking for an experienced marketer who is ready to take the next step into a leadership role — someone who excels at collaborating on strategy development and turning those plans into reality. Our ideal candidate has never met a to-do list or complex schedule they can’t master and is comfortable with a busy schedule and shifting priorities. The position we’re filling As the Associate Director for Marketing, you will be working directly with the Director of External Relations and other members of the team, as well as a variety of other departments, to achieve the revenue and attendance goals for Hartford Stage. What you’ll be doing • In partnership with the Director of External Relations, creating seasonal, show-specific, fundraising and education program marketing campaigns that achieve revenue and attendance goals • Translating marketing strategies into tasks and schedules; managing to those deadlines • Monitoring the marketing budget, controlling expenses, and maximizing return on spend • Managing paid advertising plans and media partnerships, including direct placements and working with external digital advertising partner • Assisting in the creation of content, especially copywriting for marketing collateral • Ensuring and implementing brand guide use across the organization’s assets; upholding an exceptional level of attention to detail for ensuring accuracy of information; proof-reading all external materials What you’ll be doing, continued… • Directly supervising the Digital Marketing Associate and Graphic Designer; collaborating with other members of the External Relations department and other departments across the theater • Managing relationship with external PR firm and serving as the liaison between the firm and the Hartford Stage marketing, artistic, and production teams; drafting press releases and briefings • Managing relationships with other external vendors including photographers and videographers • Supporting the External Relations team with other projects as needed What you bring Excellence in: • Keeping multiple projects on track through detailed project management • Developing marketing strategies and identifying when and how to shift the strategy if needed • Verbal and written communication • Experience with or ability to learn and use patron database software, especially to identify target audiences • Time management, prioritization, and self-discipline • Creative problem-solving • Working collaboratively and inclusively, mindful that we each bring our own unique styles, thinking, cultures, and talents to the team • Applying diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility, and anti-racist practices, as well as their direct impacts on department activities Bonus points: • Multilingual • Experience with Tessitura • Experience in Asana or other project management software • An interest in/or knowledge of the Hartford area • Passion for supporting the arts • Experience with non-profit or performing arts marketing What we bring • A dynamic downtown location in a creative state capital with quick access to the coast, mountains, and many restaurants, shops, markets, breweries, and activities of all kinds • An invitation to contribute to a team of talented and collaborative individuals committed to a Tony Award-winning legacy • A fun, engaging, inclusive, and equitable workplace committed to a transformative, experiential theater • A unique opportunity to make an impact in the field and in the Hartford community Please email your letter of interest and most current resume to [email protected] .
