Provides professional and technical support for the County’s public information and communication initiatives. Individuals working in this role may be assigned to the Communications, Government and Public Affairs Division, or in support of an assigned Department or Division. Work includes coordination of operational programs to support organizational objectives, including strategic communication, media relations and multimedia production to enhance the County’s public presence and ensure transparent information dissemination. Assignments may include performing functions across multiple media fields such as photography, print, radio, public relations, audio and video production, broadcasting, and/or audio/visual conferencing; positions in this class may specialize in one or more of these fields.
Examples of duties
------------------
• Serves as an advisor/consultant to County managers, Department Heads, Directors, and employees regarding assigned public information programs and services.
• Synchronizes communications efforts with the County’s overarching strategic plan and long-range goals.
• Assists with program budget development, including revenue tracking and expenditure monitoring.
• Assists legislative staff to ensure agency awareness of new state and federal mandates.
• Recommends and monitors performance metrics to evaluate communication effectiveness and customer satisfaction.
• Recommends and participates in the development and implementation of Department/Division goals, objectives, policies, and procedures.
Qualifications
--------------
• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Two (2) years of related experience.
• Candidates without a degree should possess four (4) additional years of related experience.
• Fingerprinting required.

* Essential Employees may be required to work during an undeclared or declared emergency. The County’s Administrative Office will determine who will be required to work on an incident-by-incident basis.
