Job Announcement - Communications Manager Worksafe is seeking a full-time Communications Manager who is passionate about achieving justice for California’s workers. The Communications Manager will report to the Executive Director and support all Worksafe staff and programs in the accomplishment of our organizational mission. RESPONSIBILITIES: ● Formulate powerful messages about occupational safety and health, and develop media strategies to educate workers, policy makers, and the public on those issues; ● Work with Staff on strategizing and engaging Narrative Shift in our campaigns ● Manage and implement Worksafe’s editorial and design production process to support all stages of publication and dissemination of our website, newsletters, presentations, blogs, and policy materials. ● Collaborate with staff and community partners to develop outreach materials about racial justice, and worker power-building targeted to different audiences, including workers and unions, attorneys, occupational and environmental health professionals, and others; ● Act as point of contact and occasional Worksafe spokesperson for media inquiries ● Collaborate with Development staff to support fundraising and donor communications efforts. 1 of 2 ● Commitment to work with and advocate for low-wage and immigrant workers; ● Superior writing ability ● At least two years of professional experience or equivalent in: ○ developing and writing content for print or electronic media in a communications role; ○ working in web-based, Internet, and social media platforms, including web content management experience; ● Basic web development skills, including HTML and CSS; ● Community, union or activist organizing experience, or experience in a role directly supporting such efforts preferred; ● Familiarity with policy issues in occupational health, labor relations, environmental health, or other related field preferred; ● Bilingual in a language of one or more California immigrant worker populations preferred; ● Ability to work as part of a team, independently manage priorities, and manage and complete projects with minimal supervision; ● Knowledge of basic computer applications (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Drive), and graphic design applications such as InDesign and Photoshop.
