_**Magazine**_ * Work closely with the volunteer editors and editorial board for San Diego Lawyer magazine * Coordinate and facilitate monthly editorial board meetings * Maintain the editorial calendar * Pursue timely submission of articles from volunteer authors and ensure submissions meet editorial guidelines * Work with the Sr. Graphic Designer with magazine layout planning and execution using Adobe Creative Cloud software * Plan and coordinate the bi-monthly magazine production schedule to ensure all milestones are met on time * Work with volunteer and paid copy editors, writers, internal graphic designer, and paid photographers to ensure content is delivered on schedule * Ensure that all content is in compliance with our official Editorial Guidelines * Proofread all articles for grammar, proper attribution, and accuracy of names, titles, dates and other details (as well as coordinate with our contract proofreader) * Coordinate all photography for editorial and ensure all licensing/copyright requirements are met * Ensure that all volunteer writers/editors/and photographers and other independent contractors for SDCBA publications have contributor agreements on file that are signed and current * Work with the printer and mail house to ensure timely and accurate production and mailing of each issue of San Diego Lawyer * Upload a digital version of each issue of San Diego Lawyer to our online platform * Promote new issues to our membership with our website, e-newsletters, and social media * File all necessary publication paperwork with post office and print statement of ownership in accordance with U.S. publication regulations * Report on readership and engagement with the print and digital editions of the magazine * E-newsletters & Blog * Source, edit, place, and proof content for our various e-newsletters and the blog, including from our Board President, Executive Director, volunteer authors, and our events calendar * Copy edit and proofread all content * Maintain contact database in our email marketing platform * Schedule, post, promote and report readership and engagement of e-newsletters and the blog _**Social Media**_ * Collaborate with Social Media Team to curate content for posts from magazine, e-newlsetters, and blog * Report on views and engagement _**Advertising**_ * Receive and confirm advertising insertion orders / contracts * Solicit and receive advertising art and verify that it meets all mechanical specifications, content guidelines, and is free of grammar/spelling errors and work with advertisers to ensure this * Manage the calendar of advertising placements and ensure ads are run on schedule * Invoice advertisers, secure timely payment, and keep detailed payment records. **Salary & Benefits** * Starting salary range: $48K - $53K, depending on experience * Benefits: Generous benefits and retirement package; downtown parking paid by the employer, partial work from home. ### Requirements **Qualifications** * Bachelor's degree in journalism, marketing, communication, or related * 3-4 years' experience doing the kind of work described in "Skills and Experience" post-college * Hands-on print and online publication production experience * Competence with Adobe Creative Cloud, Office 365, and web content management systems * U.S. Citizen or legal right to work in the U.S. **Skills and Experience** _This position requires:_ * Extreme attention to detail * Advanced proofreading skills * Proficiency with the rules of grammar and style * Strong editorial writing/editing background, with marketing copyrighting skills a plus * Intermediate competency with using Adobe Creative Cloud, including InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Acrobat for commenting and editing PDF documents * Intermediate proficiency with using Microsoft Office or similar software * Familiarity with the fundamentals of good design and typography * Proficiency with email marketing platforms like Mailchimp * Experience with at least the fundamentals of CSS and HTML for basic customization of web pages * Experience with publishing and styling content, pages, and site functionality using a web content management system / publishing platform such as WordPress * Competence with writing, styling, and submitting effective social media posts on Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and Instagram * Experience with the printing process, including proper page layout, image quality, font usage, crop/bleed, ink density and contrast, and providing clean, print-ready electronic production files. * Proficiency effectively planning, scheduling, and executing multiple projects and tasks in a fast-paced environment, using software for project management and team collaboration * Experience working for a nonprofit organization or association a plus * Some photography experience a plus **Expectations** * Collaborate and contribute to help the team get the job done * Continuously look for ways to improve our efficiency, productivity, accuracy, and quality * Be resourceful and proactive when the solution to a challenge is not immediately apparent * Take pride in achieving quality and accuracy in everything we produce * Work well both alone and in a vibrant team environment – this position requires both in equal proportion * Ability to work from home and in the office * Remain flexible and nimble in a fast-moving, never-boring environment * Have fun!
