Director of Marketing and Communications

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Director of Marketing and Communications will take a creative and collaborative approach to developing and implementing omnichannel marketing and communications strategy to support the mission of Skylight Music Theatre. This role is instrumental to the continued financial and organizational strength of the theatre and is responsible for reaching revenue goals, expanding audiences, heightening visibility, and promoting a positive image for Skylight Music Theatre.

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

Consult with Executive Director in establishing revenue and ticket volume goals and in planning repertoire and performance schedules.Develop subscription, group and single ticket structure and pricing.Design and implement marketing campaigns for both traditional and digital channels, including strategies, promotions, and project timelines to meet goals.Lead all aspects of the organization’s digital and social media presence.Collaborate and content and reporting metrics with the Digital Media and PR Manager and Marketing Consultant.Negotiate media buys, advertising, and external photo, video, web and print production.Identify and implement marketing opportunities in education programs.Develop and analyze methodology to track ticket sales and evaluate efficacy of marketing strategies. Conduct audience research. Keep historical records and conduct trend analysis.Oversee the marketing team, front of house box office staff and house management staff.REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

The Director of Marketing and Communications reports to the Executive Director and works closely with other members of the senior leadership team and the Board of Directors. They supervise a marketing team comprised of the Digital Media and PR Manager, Marketing Consultant, and seasonal intern, in addition to the Lead House Manager, and Box Office Manager, and front-of-house staff.

QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate is a brand and marketing expert with three to five years of demonstrated success in developing, executing, and reporting strategic marketing plans that include ticket revenue generation in an entertainment or performing arts environment.

Required:

Three to five years of demonstrated success in strategic marketing, tickets revenue generation, within an entertainment or performing arts environment.A bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Sales, Advertising, Public Relations or similar is required. An unrelated degree with equivalent experience in a marketing setting will be considered.Basic ability in Adobe Creative Suite including InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop required.Superior strategic planning, execution, and reporting skills are required.Excellent organizational, written, and communication skills. Experience with comprehensive CRM systems. Ability to prioritize and excel at many different tasks in a fast-paced environment is necessary.Preferred:

Experience working in a nonprofit or nonprofit arts setting is preferred, as is a working knowledge of southeastern Wisconsin’s nonprofit arts landscape.Experience with CRM system Tessitura.Ability to collaborate effectively and respect the ideas of others is essential.BENEFITS
