Director of Marketing and Public Relations

Position Summary:

The Director of Marketing and Public Relations is responsible for maintaining a positive and streamlined Chamber brand and external communications to Chamber members, future members and the community. The position leads and manages the marketing team to assure a quality customer experience at every level and the execution of the Chamber’s workplan to advance our business community.

Essential Responsibilities:

Oversees workload, removes obstacles, and provides direction and leadership to the marketing team to assure a positive and streamlined Chamber brand in all communication avenues and works closely with our events team.
Directs all public relations efforts, including press release distribution, maintenance of active media list, and managing media interviews and inquiries.
Leads all corporate communications, including production and direction of reports, program collateral, video content, magazine, social media posts, e-blasts, Chamber E-newsletter, event graphics, and communications, advertising, research summaries, and website copy.
Collaborates on Chamber workplan development and execution.
Host of some Chamber events, videos, and programs. Collaborates in the research and selection of guests and speakers.
Directs all branding guidelines and brand expression at Chamber headquarters.
Responsible for special projects including, but not limited to, script writing, executive team communications.
Maintains relationships with business and community leaders and has awareness of past, present, and future community issues and priorities.
Manages and plans annual Marketing budget. Includes processing of invoices and budget adherence.
Integrates the Chamber’s inclusion and belonging goals within events and marketing initiatives.
Participates in L10 team meetings to help advance the Chamber’s strategies and goals.
Actively demonstrates commitment to the Chamber’s vision, mission, and organizational goals.
Attends events and participates in community organizations as a representative of the Chamber.

Non-Essential Responsibilities:

Assists events team with space set up for various events and programs.
Other duties as assigned.

Supervision Received:

​​General Direction: Plans and arranges own work. Uses a wide range of procedures to accomplish assigned objectives.​

Supervisory Responsibilities:

​​Advanced supervision: Determines work assignments, priorities, and procedures for subordinates. Responsible for assigning, scheduling, and ensuring the quality and quantity of work. Approves time off and schedule adjustments. Provides training and coaching​

Education & Experience:

​​Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Journalism, Communications or equivalent degree.​
​​Five (5) + years of experience in marketing and communications. ​
Two (2) + years of experience in public relations, media relations and management of team members.

Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Have proven knowledge base in the area of marketing, communications, and creative design and be able to integrate new knowledge, skills, and best practices into projects.
Strong social media knowledge and solid understanding of website management (Wordpress).
Have proven problem-solving skills and exceptional creativity
Have proven ability to challenge the standard thinking with new ideas, new approaches, and new solutions
Have proven ability to exercise independent judgment with minimal supervision
Have proven ability to assess situations and envision solutions that will meet the member needs.
Have proven written and verbal communication skills
Have proven proofing and editing skills
Have proven ability to collaborate with internal and external colleagues
Strong decision-making skills and the determination to see projects through to the end

Pay: $82,000.00 - $87,000.00 per year
