(worldmusicinstitute.org)This is a full-time hybrid position (with a minimum of one day per week in the office) and reports to the Executive Director.The Marketing Director develops and executes strategic marketing, promotional, and outreach initiativesthat strengthen WMI’s brand, increase ticket sales, grow audiences, and support its annual live concertseries, virtual programs, fundraising, and community engagement.Marketing Strategy and Brand Management• Develop and execute targeted marketing, outreach, and promotional campaigns for WMI’s annuallive concert season of approximately 25-35 shows and monthly virtual programming sessions,driving ticket sales while optimizing marketing budgets.• Develop, manage, and track marketing budgets across campaigns, ensuring resources areallocated effectively and expenses stay within approved limits.• Strengthen and maintain WMI’s brand voice, visual identity, and audience-facing messagingacross print, digital, email, social media, website, advertising, and event channels.• Manage content for the WMI website and ticketing platform to ensure accuracy, consistency,timeliness, and alignment with organizational priorities. Add and remove events promptly to keepinformation current.• Work closely with the Executive Director on fundraising initiatives, donor-facing communications,and special events as needed.Content, Design, and Digital Communications• Lead the design, development, production, and creation of marketing and promotional materials,including social media assets, advertisements, annual brochures, concert programs, postcards,posters, annual reports, and short event videos.• Design and publish weekly e-newsletters and targeted blasts in Constant Contact, ensuring clearmessaging, strong visuals, and alignment with campaign priorities to improve open and clickrates.• Edit WMI Plus at Home videos for the website and YouTube channel and edit audio B-roll forpodcast release. Create clips and sound bites from recordings for promotional use.Social Media Management• Manage all WMI social media channels, including organic content and paid digital advertising, toincrease visibility, engagement, audience growth, and ticket sales.• Plan and execute social media content calendars that support concert promotion, brandstorytelling, fundraising, and audience engagement.• Monitor and refine content and advertising strategies based on engagement trends and campaigngoals.Partnerships, Outreach, and Public Relations• Maintain the community partners database and expand WMI’s network of community, cultural,and venue contacts for cross-promotional opportunities.• Work with peers at venue partners on co-presentations and coordinated marketing opportunitiesas well as newsletter inclusion swaps.• Collaborate with an independent publicist to develop event and season press releases andcoordinate press and media opportunities with artist managers.Live Event Support and Audience Engagement• Attend WMI live and virtual events and serve as an ambassador to audience members.• At live events, manage the WMI information table, share details about the organization andupcoming events, and manage merchandise.• Recruit, train, and supervise event volunteers and maintain event photographer schedules for liveevents.Reporting, Analytics, and Performance Insights• Track and analyze marketing data using GA4 and other reporting tools to evaluate campaignperformance, audience behavior, and digital engagement.Qualifications and Skills• Five or more years of progressively responsible marketing, communications, audiencedevelopment, or event promotion experience, preferably in the performing arts, nonproBt, cultural,or live events sector.• Demonstrated ability to develop and execute integrated marketing campaigns that drive ticketsales, audience engagement, brand awareness, and donor or community participation.• Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with the ability to adapt messaging for email,social media, web, print, press, fundraising, and partner communications.• Strong visual design sense and experience creating marketing materials for digital and printplatforms; proficiency with design tools such as Canva and/or Adobe Creative Suite.• Hands-on experience managing websites, email marketing platforms, social media channels, paiddigital advertising, and ticketing or customer relationship management systems.• Experience with Constant Contact, GA4, YouTube, basic video and audio editing tools, and socialmedia analytics is highly desirable.• Familiarity with AI tools and emerging digital technologies to support marketing workflows,content development, audience insights, and campaign optimization.• Experience creating and tracking Meta advertising campaigns.• Experience managing and tracking marketing budgets across campaigns.• Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiplecampaigns, deadlines, partners, vendors, and live event priorities simultaneously.• Collaborative, flexible, and proactive working style, with strong interpersonal skills and the abilityto build positive relationships with artists, venues, community partners, board members, donors,volunteers, and audience members.• Cultural curiosity, sensitivity, and respect for global music and dance traditions, with acommitment to WMI’s mission of cross-cultural dialogue and exchange.• Availability to attend evening and weekend performances and events as needed.
