JOB TITLE: Director, Vision Care SolutionsDEPT: MarketingREPORTS TO: SVP, Commercial StrategyPOSITION TYPE: Full-TimeLOCATION: Montgomery, AL (Hybrid) Relocation assistance may be providedTRAVEL REQUIRED: Up to 35%JOB PURPOSEResponsible for developing, communicating, and achieving the short and long-term objectives, strategies, and tactics related to key brands, specifically vision care brands, with direction from commercial and sales management teams to facilitate/support the commercial planning process which includes areas such as: sales, marketing, managed care, training, market research, and business development initiativesESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSProvide strategic recommendations for Vision Care business growth in the US, with strong acumen across relevant customer bases including hospitals, acute surgical clinics, teaching institutions, managed care organizations, market access and buying groupsLead value-enhancing initiatives, transactions, and integrations across vision care for specialty commercial and sales teamsDemonstrate success in surgical marketing and product sales including ongoing proposal developmentAssist in the successful execution of launch strategies, marketing, promotion and sales initiatives, including communicating key product messages and participating in promotional eventsSupport the development of strategic/operational business plans to achieve financial/corporate objectives for products and services in conjunction with commercial, marketing, and sales management departmentsRecommend product positioning, messaging, promotional mix, packaging, and pricing strategy to produce the highest economic returnEnsure effective control of marketing results using market research and forecasting and recommend corrective action when necessary to guarantee the achievement of marketing objectives falls within designated budgetsEvaluate market research and recommend adjustments to marketing strategy to meet changing market and competitive conditionsMonitor macro-environmental and competitive environment to determine potential opportunities or challenges for vision care brandsCoordinate and collaborate with sales management, marketing, managed care, medical affairs, and regulatory departments to ensure strategic plans are developed and executed with their inputProvide input into overall vision care business and marketing strategy development based on field/market understandingInteract across appropriate functional groups within the company to enhance vision care products pre and post launch design and implementationOther duties as assignedREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSBachelor's degree required; Advanced degree preferredMinimum 10 years high-level management experience in US pharmaceutical industry; Combined experience in strategic/commercial operations, marketing, and/or sales managementMinimum 5 years experience in ophthalmology or optometry to include medical devices, or surgical-related product sales in a Vision Care sector and/or eye care franchise requiredDemonstrated leadership in consumer ocular pharmaceutical products and medical device sales including experience in IOL portfolios, diagnostic instrumentation, and Surgical Optics preferredAbility to comprehensively lead the vision care business and possesses a successful track record in the vision/eye care businessHas a wide network within the ophthalmology fieldDemonstrated in-depth knowledge of the US healthcare system, the inter-play between key player segments, a broad base of knowledge/experience across multiple commercial operations disciplines (sales management, marketing, managed markets) and solid foundation in financial principlesExcellent verbal and written communication skillsStrong strategic thinking skills to effectively enhance and innovate across the pharmaceutical commercialization spectrumAbility to anticipate and solve practical problems or resolve issuesThe information presented, while not an exact or exhaustive listing, describes the work, performance standards, and qualifications typically required of employees in this job.
