Use Your Lived Experience to Help Parents Raising Children Who Are Struggling Who we are: We are parents/primary caregivers who use our lived experience of raising a child(ren) with social, emotional, behavioral or mental health challenges to help other parents/primary caregivers facing similar challenges. Our team members are comfortable using technology and working remotely. We receive extensive training in order to be able to work confidently one on one with parents and share our knowledge in writing and verbally. ​ Who you are: We're especially looking to expand the diversity of our team which means we're interested in interviewing parents/primary caregivers living in rural and suburban counties across the state, or are parents who fluently speak a language other than English, and meet our definition of "parent" as described on our About Us page. Connect parents/primary caregivers with other parents/primary caregivers with similar challenges and other community resources.​ Link parents/primary caregivers to other parents/primary caregivers, e.g. social activities, education events, support groups, etc Assist parents/primary caregivers in identifying support groups when needed Coordinate and help facilitate support groups as needed Recruit and link interested and experienced parents/primary caregivers to system-level opportunities (i.e. advisory boards and committees, etc) Connect to the community​ Actively participate in advertising the work of the Parent Alliance in the local community and through social media marketing efforts​ Recruit those who would benefit from Parent Alliance membership Mentor parents/primary caregivers in community leadership efforts Represent the Parent Alliance at meetings, conferences and event as requested Actively participate on at least one board, committee or council​ Collect and record according to agency policies Document all services according to agency policies Represent the family perspective in appropriate meetings Help other professionals to understand the family perspective Other duties as assigned ​ Qualifications: Knowledge gained by parenting a child with a mental health challenge and system involvement (such as education, juvenile justice, medical, child welfare, etc.)
