Maine Coast Waldorf School is now hiring a full-time Marketing & Communications Manager for our growing school in Freeport, Maine! This position has a reliable schedule averaging 40 hours per week year-round.

About the Position
The Marketing & Communications Manager leads the storytelling, marketing, and communications work of Maine Coast Waldorf School, helping to strengthen enrollment, retention, community connection, development efforts, and the School’s visibility throughout Maine and beyond.This role sits at the intersection of strategy and production. The Marketing & Communications Manager will develop a deep understanding of Maine Coast Waldorf School’s mission, values, pedagogy, and distinctive character, maintain a solid grasp of existing and potential audiences, and build effective production operations.

The successful candidate will be an excellent storyteller and communicator who is equally comfortable thinking strategically and getting the work done. They will bring curiosity about Waldorf education and an ability to translate the richness of the School into language and imagery that is accessible and compelling to prospective families, enrolled families, alumni, donors, and the wider community.

Essential Functions

Marketing & Enrollment StrategyDevelop and implement an annual marketing strategy and production calendar

Translate enrollment goals and data into targeted marketing initiatives

Develop campaigns that communicate the distinctive strengths of Maine Coast Waldorf School

Identify opportunities to expand the School’s visibility and reach

Ensure audiences encounter a consistent and compelling story

Digital Marketing & AdvertisingManage the School’s digital marketing efforts

Serve as the primary School liaison with external creative partners

Monitor campaign performance and use data to refine audience targeting, messaging, spending, and strategy

Oversee SEO strategy and website content

Manage print advertising and other targeted outreach opportunities

Communications & StorytellingDevelop and maintain a clear, consistent voice for Maine Coast Waldorf School

Identify and tell stories that bring the School’s mission and educational experience to life

Write, edit, and coordinate key School communications for internal and external audiences

Manage School social media channels and develop a consistent content calendar

Coordinate photography, video, and other visual storytelling

Cultivate appropriate opportunities for earned media and community visibility

Development & Community EngagementAssist the development and production of the School major publications

Develop communications and promotional materials for fundraising initiatives

Help tell the story of philanthropy and its impact

Provide communications and promotional support for alumni and other community engagement initiatives

Website & Brand ManagementServe as the primary content manager for the School website

Maintain consistency in the School’s visual identity

Develop and maintain print and digital materials

Create templates and systems that allow faculty and staff to communicate consistently

Desired Qualifications & SkillsExceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills

Demonstrated experience in marketing, communications, communications, journalism, public relations, enrollment marketing, development communications, or a related field

Strong understanding of digital marketing

Ability to interpret marketing and enrollment data and use it to inform strategy

Experience managing websites and digital content platforms

Experience producing high-quality print and digital publications from concept through completion

Strong visual judgment and experience collaborating with creative professionals

Excellent project management and organizational skills

Strong interpersonal skills

Ability to work independently, take initiative, and move comfortably between strategic planning and detailed execution

Sound judgment when working with sensitive or confidential material

Familiarity with independent schools, Waldorf education, nonprofit organizations, or mission-driven institutions

Additional InformationThis is a full-time, year-round administrative position. Regular hours generally align with the School day, with flexibility during summer and school vacation periods. Some evening and weekend work is required for major School events, performances, admissions programs, fundraising events, and other communications needs.
