Purpose of Department
The Department of Marketing and Communications at William Peace University tells the story of PEACE to prospective students, parents, and the community.

Summary of Position
The Marketing Communications Specialist is responsible for discovering, developing, and delivering compelling stories that advance William Peace University's brand, enrollment, and fundraising goals. The role translates institutional strategy into human-centered narratives across digital and print channels, with a focus on elevating student success, faculty excellence, alumni impact, and community partnerships. This position requires a curious mind with the ability to identify a story and determine the best way to tell it to the target audience.

Essential duties and responsibilities
• Identify, research, and pitch story ideas that support recruitment, retention, advancement, and reputation-building priorities.
• Interview students, faculty, staff, alumni, and partners to gather quotes, anecdotes, and information that bring the institution's brand to life.
• Write and edit news stories, profiles, web content, email campaigns, video scripts, social media copy, and print pieces that are clear, accurate, emotionally compelling where appropriate, and on brand.
• Collaborate with designers, videographers, photographers, and social media staff to develop integrated storytelling packages for key campaigns and audiences.
• Maintain a forward-looking editorial calendar aligned with the University's marketing strategy, enrollment cycle, and major events.
• Tailor stories for specific audiences (prospective students and families, alumni, donors, community members, employers) and channels while maintaining a consistent voice.
• Use analytics and engagement metrics to refine content topics, formats, and distribution strategies.
• Manage the storytelling hub on peace.edu including alignment with the brand pillars.
• Assist with the management of the institutional website helping to make updates or develop content.
• Write and create other content including newsletters.
• Assist with other marketing tasks as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in marketing, journalism, communications, or related field.
• Minimum of three years of professional experience in content development.
• Proficiency with Wordpress and email marketing platforms.
• Strong knowledge of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) best practices and implementation.
