Here's a little about Housing Matters and the Marketing Communications Manager position they are seeking to fill: Looking for a way to make a positive impact? Housing Matters provide services to clients well beyond the walls of their campus. Since opening in May 2005, the Rebele Family Shelter has helped hundreds of families by providing not only shelter and food, but also intensive case management that unlocks the potential to obtain jobs and stability that many of the families never knew they could acquire. The Specifics: Manages annual editorial calendar, including all public-facing communications and development campaigns In collaboration with the Development team, writes and/or copy-edits donation appeal letters and other appeal content; contributes to audience segmentation strategy Supports the Development team with specific messaging and talking points for fundraising efforts In collaboration with the Executive Director, sets annual and campaign- specific budgets; manages budgets and reports on final project costs and ROI Leads multifaceted campaign strategies for fundraising and general communications campaigns, including traditional media, advertising, social, press relations, email, direct mail, and other distribution methods Manages email marketing database, creates automated experiences, ensures data integrity Manages lead generation strategies and efforts, including social media advertising Participates in ongoing professional development opportunities Provides creative direction to contracted graphic designers, ensuring consistent application of the Housing Matters brand guidelines across all media Manages the Housing Matters brand voice, and ensures all external communication is consistent with the Housing Matters brand voice and style guidelines Writes and/or coordinates all newsletters (print and digital), the Annual Report, and other publications as needed; oversees distribution plan for all publications Coordinates press production with printer and mail house vendors Manages relationships with a variety of consultants and contractors, including, copywriters, freelance graphic designers, marketing agencies, public relations agencies, and more Provides direction on social media strategy Provides support to Programs staff by creating promotional materials to meet specified objectives Supports executive team with consultation on internal communications strategies and crisis communications Supervises and manages a small communications team, including providing direction for the Housing Matters community engagement program Contributes to event planning, and promotes Housing Matters special events Manages all press and media relations, including press releases, media interviews, and more Provides updates and reports to Development staff, the Executive Director, and the Board of Directors About You: Training and Experience Any combination of training and experience equivalent to: •Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, or related field; masters preferred •3+ years of experience in communications or marketing; non-profit experience preferred Knowledge and Skills: Communications, marketing, public relations, and storytelling The latest marketing and communications tools and trends, specifically around change making, social justice, and donor relations Brand management Microsoft Office applications, Google Suite Ability to maintain a holistic view of projects without losing sight of the details Outstanding written and verbal communication skills An understanding of crisis communication best practices Excellent project management skills 2+ years of supervisory experience Knowledge of homelessness in general, specifically in Santa Cruz County preferred Design and art direction capabilities; knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite preferred Multimedia production and editing preferred Housing Matters is looking for individuals eager to make a difference and willing to enthusiastically commit to join in our vision that homelessness in Santa Cruz County should be rare, brief and non-recurring.
