Organization Information

Heaven Can Wait Animal Society (HCWS) specializes in spay and neuter services to reduce overpopulation, prevent unnecessary euthanasia, and improve animals’ quality of life. We bring together advocates, rescues, and other organizations devoted to animal welfare in Southern Nevada to address overpopulation and animal suffering. With more than 25 years of specialized experience, our spay/neuter, vaccination and microchipping services reduce shelter intake, prevent excessive euthanasia, and improve quality of life for animals in our community.

Job Summary

The Marketing & Communications Manager (MCM) will assist in being a very important and compassionate “voice” for a high-impact, long-standing nonprofit organization. They will lead HCWS’s marketing and communications, working with the Development Director (DD) to create and execute strategies that advance the organization’s mission, grow awareness, and drive donor and community engagement. The MCM will be proud to own the day-to-day management of HCWS’s digital presence, content strategy, and brand.

This role requires an outgoing, enthusiastic communicator who is comfortable engaging with a wide range of people and building meaningful connections. They must be confident adapting to the ever-changing world of digital marketing and bring a passion for creative storytelling and animal welfare. This role is a hands-on, execution-focused position with primary emphasis on digital content, storytelling, and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities

Content Creation & Digital Communications

Create and execute a content calendar spanning social media and email
Create compelling, on-brand social and educational content (graphics, photos, videos, copy) reflecting HCWS’s voice
Plan, write, and deliver email newsletters and campaigns
Oversee and optimize website content, ensuring pages are current and accurate
Develop and manage fundraising campaign materials in coordination with the DD

Storytelling & Community Engagement

Lead HCWS’s community storytelling program — proactively identifying, capturing, and amplifying the stories of clients, animals, volunteers, and staff
Build and maintain relationships with community partners, media contacts, and aligned organizations to extend HCWS’s reach and visibility
Coordinate and represent HCWS at community outreach events, clinic open houses, and partner convenings
Draft press releases, media pitches, and talking points; serve as a first point of contact for routine media inquiries in coordination with the DD
Support donor stewardship efforts through impact communications, thank-you content, and recognition materials

Marketing Strategy & Performance

Develop and implement a marketing and communications plan aligned with HCWS’s needs
Manage and grow HCWS’s digital marketing channels, including social media, email, and web
Manage and optimize the HCWS Google Ad Grant account, including campaign development, keyword strategy, and performance reporting
Track, analyze, and report key marketing metrics to translate to actionable recommendations for the leadership team
Identify opportunities to expand HCWS’s visibility and brand presence through new channels, partnerships, and community engagement

Brand & Visual Identity

Help steward and maintain the HCWS brand, ensuring consistency across all materials, platforms, and external communications
Design and produce print and digital collateral (flyers, social graphics, signage, annual report, etc.) using tools such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite
Maintain and organize the HCWS digital media library

Supervision & Collaboration

Collaborate cross-functionally with program, clinic, and development staff to gather content and ensure consistent messaging
Participate in organizational planning processes, contributing marketing perspective to strategic and fundraising conversations
Perform other duties as assigned in support of HCWS’s mission and communications goals

Qualifications

Required

3+ years of experience in marketing, communications, or a related field, with demonstrated ability to manage multi-channel programs
Strong writing and editing skills across formats (social, email, web, print)
Proficiency with social media platforms with an instinct for creating content that excites and connects with audiences
Experience planning and managing content calendars across multiple channels
Experience with email marketing platforms
Proficiency with Canva or Adobe Creative Suite; ability to produce polished, on-brand visuals
Comfort with marketing analytics; able to pull, interpret, and present data to improve results
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage others and translate real experiences into compelling content
Highly organized, self-directed, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Genuine passion for animal welfare, public engagement, and the HCWS mission

Preferred

Experience managing Google Ad Grant accounts
Video production and editing skills
Experience in a nonprofit or mission-driven organization
Working knowledge of SEO and content optimization best practice
Experience supervising staff, volunteers, or contractors
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field (or equivalent work experience)

Other Information

This is a full-time, in-person position based at HCWS’s Las Vegas facility, with occasional evening and weekend availability required for community events. The work environment is a busy animal welfare clinic; candidates must be comfortable working near animals and in a high-energy setting. Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs occasionally for event setup and materials transport.

Compensation and Benefits

Standard schedule is 40 hours per week; some evenings and weekends may be required
