Job Summary
The Marketing & Communications Specialist creates content for the U Career Success website, social media channels, informational and promotional videos, newsletters, presentations, and other marketing items as needed. This role supports Career Coaches, the Pre-Professional Team, Connect2Health, Learn + Earn, and Corporate & Community Engagement. They will also collaborate with campus partners to distribute content and promote events and resources to a wide range of audiences.

Responsibilities
* Maintains and updates the U Career Success website and content for supported programs.
* Creates content for newsletters, digital and print marketing, social media, internal and external communications, and reports for university leadership and community partners.
* Collaborates with the team to create marketing and communication plans.
* Monitors and analyzes the effectiveness of marketing/communication tactics and adjusting communication plans as necessary, in partnership with manager.
* Develops and adheres to project timelines.
* Ensures that distributed material is accurate and timely.
* May perform other related technical duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree English, Journalism, Communications, or related field plus 3 years of related experience, or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience); excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills; familiarity with a variety of computer software; project management and strong interpersonal skills; ability to work both individually and in a team setting.
* Some areas may require additional experience with specific computer systems and may require skills in interviewing, ad copy writing, editing, photography, web writing, graphic design, audio & video production, and oral presentation.
* Demonstrated professional writing and editing skills, with the ability to adapt content for varied audiences and platforms.
* Experience creating and coordinating communications or marketing materials across multiple channels, such as web, email, social media, print, and presentations.
* Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
* Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with a range of stakeholders.

Preferences
* Two or more years of professional experience in marketing, communications, public relations, digital content, or a related field.
* Experience managing website content, preferably using WordPress or a comparable content management system.
* Experience developing and implementing short- and long-term communications, marketing, or content strategies.
* Experience creating and managing social media content, including content calendars and performance reporting.
* Experience using communications or project-management tools, such as Trello, Asana, Microsoft Planner, Mailchimp, or similar platforms.
* Experience using marketing analytics to assess the effectiveness of communications and adjust tactics.
* Graphic design experience using Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or comparable tools.
* Video production or editing experience.
* Experience working in higher education, student services, nonprofit, or another mission-driven environment.
* Experience translating complex information into clear, engaging, student-centered content.
* Master’s degree in a related field may be preferred.
