Outdoor Science School - Cabin Leader Coordinator

**Interested applicants must apply at https://www.edjoin.org/Home/DistrictJobPosting/1427404** DEFINITION: We are seeking an individual who has experience working with high school age students, has a lot of enthusiasm, is comfortable giving a good sales pitch and can accommodate a flexible working schedule, including evenings and some weekends, to recruit high school and college volunteers for service as cabin leaders at the outdoor science school. ESSENTIAL DUTIES (under the direction of the Outdoor Science School director) • Coordinate the development of regional partnerships with high schools within districts of attending elementary schools for the recruitment of cabin leaders • Develop close relationships with school officials (counselors, principals, teachers) who help place students as cabin leaders and support elementary teachers as they work to recruit high school students within their area/district • Recruit high school students who are in good academic standing, responsible and hard working • Visit participating high schools to convene and facilitate various orientations; make presentations to groups within schools • Communicate relevant information to ensure proper cabin leader placement each week and assess recruiting needs based on 5th/6th grade student enrollment. • Establish and maintain clear communication and cooperative working relationships with outdoor school staff, cabin leaders, high school teachers, parents and principals. • The employee may be exposed to a variety of conditions, which may include rain, hail, sleet, and high winds for days at a time. • This is a classified temporary position that does not accrue vacation days.
