Part-Time Benefits Specialist

Position Summary
This role is responsible for the day-to-day administration of the company’s benefits programs, vendor coordination, billing, and employee support. The position ensures accurate and timely processing, clear employee communication, and smooth execution of annual and ongoing benefits activities. The role also supports wellness initiatives and plays a key part in Open Enrollment planning and delivery.
Key Responsibilities


Manage monthly benefits billing, including reconciliation, auditing, and resolving discrepancies with carriers and Finance.

Serve as the primary contact for several benefits vendors. Responsibilities include routine check-ins, troubleshooting issues, monitoring performance, and ensuring smooth employee experiences. Vendors/plans include:






Various point solutions (Hinge Health, Wondr Health)

Delta Dental

VSP

HSA Bank





Track participation, engagement, and vendor performance where applicable.
Respond to escalated employee benefits questions & claims issues.



Develop Benefits Newsletter content and other employee communications.



Assist with planning, communication, system updates, and execution of the annual Open Enrollment process.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities


Working knowledge of benefits administration practices, including enrollment, billing coordination, and vendor interaction

Understanding of common benefit programs such as medical, dental, vision, wellness, and HSA

Ability to manage routine vendor communications and escalate complex issues appropriately

Effective written and verbal communication skills for responding to employee questions

Ability to follow established processes and meet deadlines in a high-volume environment

Proficiency with HRIS and benefits administration systems; comfort learning new tools and platforms

Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee information appropriately

Education and Experience


Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred

5-7 years of experience in benefits administration, HR operations, or a related HR function

Experience supporting employee benefit programs and working with external vendors required

Prior experience handling employee inquiries and routine benefits transactions strongly preferred

Physical Demands and Work Environment


The primary work environment is a professional office setting.

Physical demands include sitting more than 50% of the time, seeing (with a focus on reading), light lifting, talking, and walking.

Travel is minimal, with nights spent away from home being less than 10%.
