Independent Print Advertising Sales Executive

Salt Lake & Davis Counties | Commission-Based + Performance Incentive Only | 1099 Independent Contractor

We are the locally owned edition of a national lifestyle publication featuring local businesses and professionals across a wide range of industries. We are seeking an experienced sales professional to sell print advertising spreads to locally owned businesses and professionals throughout Salt Lake and Davis counties.

This is NOT a fully remote or work-from-home-only position. Regular, in-person prospecting, visits to local businesses and face-to-face client meetings are essential requirements of this role. Phone, email and video outreach are important components of the position, but are not substitutes for consistent in-person sales activity.

Responsibilities

Independently identify businesses that align with the publicationIdentify and contact owners and key decision-makersBuild and manage an active prospect pipelineMaintain accurate records of prospects, client communications and follow-up activityProspect using methods such as email, phone calls, mailed publication samples and in-person visits.Schedule meetings, present advertising opportunities, follow up and close salesMail or deliver publication samples when helpful

The contractor is expected to generate prospects independently rather than rely on qualified leads or scheduled appointments.

The publication offers advertisers an ongoing, hands-on relationship with the local owner. When helpful, the owner may join select prospect meetings to reinforce that personal involvement. The sales representative remains responsible for leading and closing the sale, and owner participation will not reduce commission.

Compensation and Timeline

Approximately $980–$1,380 commission per completed full-price saleUncapped commissionCommission paid after the advertising agreement is signed and the required initial payment has cleared$2,500 additional performance incentive for securing 20 new advertisers, each with a signed advertising agreement and required initial payment received by January 15, 2027No salary, hourly pay, draw or guaranteed minimumContractor is responsible for ordinary business expenses, including mileage, gas, parking and mealsPublication samples, business cards and approved postage providedImmediate startPotential opportunity to return for the next sales cycle beginning June 2027

Qualifications

Proven full-cycle B2B sales experience, including prospecting, presenting, following up and closingAdvertising, media, sponsorship or local-business sales experience preferred, but not requiredComfortable contacting business owners and senior decision-makers across a wide range of industriesComfortable conducting consistent email, phone and in-person cold outreachAble to communicate the value of a premium print advertising productFamiliarity with the Salt Lake and Davis County business communitiesSelf-directed, organized and persistent with strong follow-up skillsAvailable for regular local prospect visits and client meetingsProfessional appearance is required for in-person and video meetingsReliable vehicle, phone and computer

This is a full-cycle sales position requiring both remote outreach and consistent in-person prospecting. It is not an appointment-setting or work-from-home-only role.

This is a 1099 independent contractor opportunity. The contractor determines their own work schedule, prospecting methods and sales approach while meeting agreed-upon deadlines and client commitments.

Upon selection, the contractor is required to attend an in-person orientation covering the publication, advertising options, pricing and sales materials. Virtual orientation is not available.

This is a non-exclusive opportunity. Contractors may represent other businesses, provided those activities do not create a direct conflict with this publication's advertising sales.
