Abbeville Press seeks a publicity & marketing intern based in New York, who will report to the Publicity & Marketing Manager, for a paid internship for the fall semester (August-December). This intern will have an opportunity to gain hands-on experience at our Manhattan office 10–12 hours per week, with a schedule that can be flexible to accommodate class requirements.Essential Duties:Work closely with the Publicity & Marketing Manager, learning about the publishing process and gradually taking on more responsibilities and independent tasksHelp research media mailing lists and prepare press materials and pitchesPack and ship marketing and publicity mailingsDraft and schedule B2C email newslettersPlan posts and draft copy for social mediaUpdate event calendar for new titlesGeneral administrative dutiesRequirements:An interest in learning about the book publishing industry, especially illustrated books!Excellent communication skillsAbility to be detail-oriented and organized across different projectsProficiency in Microsoft WordProficiency in Adobe AcrobatThe ideal candidate would also have one or more of the following:Previous experience with book selling or online marketingFamiliarity with creating marketing assets, such as social graphicsExperience with MailChimp or similar email platformsABOUT ABBEVILLE PRESSFounded in 1977, Abbeville Press is an independent publisher of fine art and illustrated books.
