Dr. Kjerstin Thorson, an associate professor in the Department of Advertising & Public Relations at Michigan State University, is looking for participants for a research study of how people use social media to find out about the world. We are looking for volunteers within the greater Lansing area to participate in a 60-90 minute audio-recorded interview via Zoom about information that you receive on your social media platforms. We will ask questions about information that you receive on your social media platforms, to share your screen and walk the interviewers through your social media platforms, and to donate specific data from your accounts about how your interests are classified by advertisers. To be able to take part in this study, individuals must be between 18 and 34 years of age. Qualifying participants will receive $20 in compensation for participating in this interview, via Venmo, PayPal, or Amazon gift card.
