VP, Political Streaming Ad Sales

This role offers a rare opportunity to shape the future of political streaming advertising and lead a disruptive go-to-market effort in a critical growth category, backed by the scale and resources of Ampersand’s joint venture partners (Comcast, Spectrum, Cox) and an existing political business line with decades of success. • Strategic Leadership & Revenue Generation • Develop political streaming business goals and objectives, ensuring alignment with and incrementality to the overall political line of business (LOB) and existing linear and addressable strategies • Craft differentiated value propositions, sales narratives and comprehensive go-to-market strategies that position our streaming inventory as premium, must-buy supply for political advertisers • Drive revenue and market share by building strategic relationships with political digital media agencies, consultants, direct clients (campaigns, PACs, and parties), and programmatic demand partners • Partner with product teams to enhance political streaming advertising capabilities and programmatic and platform solutions • Team Management and Development • Build, lead, and manage a small and growing sales team focused on streaming political marketplace, across managed service and programmatic executions, while load balancing for political cycle fluctuations • Foster a culture of excellence and continuous improvement through mentorship and development • Establish sales processes, training, and performance metrics • Execute all sales management functions, including sales planning, forecasting, performance management, and identifying opportunities to outperform goals • Participate in overall budget setting and own budget management and department spending • Market Intelligence & Thought Leadership • Serve as senior industry voice through thought leadership, conferences, and media engagement, representing our streaming proposition in the political advertising space • Monitor competitive market dynamics, inventory trends, and client needs to adjust strategy and product offerings • Track and analyze market trends and competitor activities to identify new opportunities and stay ahead of industry developments • Experience & Leadership • 10+ years of progressive sales leadership experience in digital advertising, with at least 3-5 years focused on political advertising • Experience managing high-performing sales teams with proven track record of exceeding annual sales targets ($20M+ revenue responsibility) • Deep experience with CTV/streaming video ad sales, programmatic ecosystem, with a clear understanding of audience-based buying and geographic targeting for political advertisers • Deep, existing relationships with political agencies, consultants, direct clients and platform-based demand partners • Industry & Technical Knowledge • Experience with inventory monetization strategy, pricing dynamics, and demonstrated success managing monetization strategies across SSPs and DSPs • Advanced knowledge of programmatic streaming sales and ad tech channels and platforms, including ad servers, SSP/DSP, curation hubs, and video ad serving concepts • Extensive understanding of political advertising regulations and compliance requirements • Leadership & Personal Characteristics • Digitally native, data-literate, with an entrepreneurial mindset • Collaborative leader with the ability to influence cross-functional teams and external partners • Resilient under pressure, especially in the unique cadence of political advertising cycles • Persuasive storyteller with outstanding presentation and executive communication skills If you are contacted by someone about an open job at Ampersand, please verify the domain of the sender’s email address and that they are asking you to apply on this website.
